Hello, I’m Stacy Peterson.

I was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana where I graduated from CM Russell High School. I soon after went to college and graduated from the University of Montana- Western with my B.S. in Secondary Education- English and a minor in Special Education in 2010. I then pursued my career in education where I taught Special Education for 5 years. In the meantime I accomplished my M.Ed. in Counselor Education from Montana State University- Northern, where I sought concentrations in school and clinical counseling. I have been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor since June of 2016. In August of 2015, my supervisor and I opened Renew Wellness Center where I completed my internship hours and then continued to counsel until December of 2021. As of January 2022, I started Riverbend Therapeutics to best meet the needs of my growing family.

In October of 2020 my husband and I had our first child. She keeps us on our toes and is the most beautiful busy little girl. We fondly refer to her as the “tiny tornado.” In December of 2021 we had our 2nd child who is a handsome baby boy that tolerates his big sister’s aggressive loves well so far. Having two kids in 14 months has been an exciting ride! I also have a dog and chickens that I love to spend time with.

My main therapeutic modality I work from is a form of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) called Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) that helps identify irrational beliefs and negative thought patterns that may lead to emotional or behavioral issues. Along with REBT, I focus change work on the connections between thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that prevent my clients from living the life that they want to. Then with Motivational Interviewing I help my clients resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior and keep living the way that they want.

I work with children ages 8+ and individual men and women. At this time, my appointments are available through teletherapy mostly with limited availability in person on Monday afternoons. I am uncertain as to whether face to face appointments will be available in the future. All clients will be placed in the schedule based on most appropriate fit for the client.

I have worked extensively with the following areas:

  • Women's Issues

  • Those Seeking Personal Growth

  • Relationships with Others

  • Infertility

  • Stress and its Effects

  • Depression and Anxiety

  • Children with Special Needs

  • Parents of Special Need Children

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Individualized Parent Education

  • Behavioral Modification

Hi, I’m Mick

If you are meeting my mom in person, more than likely you will get the chance to meet ME. I am a 11 year old Border Collie X and love to help people by giving them the opportunity to pet me. Let my mom know if you are allergic or not a dog person and I am OK staying at home. (Though I hope you will love me as much as I already love you!!)
